What is American Songline?
Created by singer and composer Cecelia “Cece” Otto, An American Songline is an ongoing project dedicated to preserving and sharing the story of America through unique, experiential musical performances — some have called it “Hamilton in reverse.” American Songline performances entertain, educate and delight thanks to Cece’s unique ability to engage modern audiences with the songs and stories of a simpler time.
Where/when are you performing?
For specific performance dates, see my Current Tour & Show Dates page. I perform throughout North America and beyond. I am generally available for bookings year-round, though May-September tends to be my busy season. I also speak at conferences and other events all over the US. If you are looking for other types of programs or speaking topics, please inquire — I’m happy to customize music for your event.
What kind of songs do you perform?
My programs consist of songs that highlight certain periods and events in American history, generally from the 1860s to the period up to World War II. That means I perform a wide range of material. You’ll hear a mix of folk songs, show tunes, operetta and classical numbers. Some of my best-received (and most requested) numbers include “Second Hand Rose,” “Over There,” “When You’re Smiling,” “K-K-K-Katy,” “Home on the Range” and “After the Ball” — to name just a few!
