Hello all – it’s March 2021, can you believe it? There are moments where it’s felt like the last year has flown by, other times it’s felt like it’s been 10 years. One year ago this week, I gave my final performance to an in-person live audience and stopped touring. I’ll be sharing my reflections on what this year has been like later this month, but in the meantime…it’s Women’s History Month!
Pandemic or not, it’s important to celebrate and talk about the accomplishments of women this month. Yesterday was International Women’s Day, and I realized that I could share something I wrote last year with you all about the Women’s Suffrage movement. Last year prior to lockdown, I went to Alabama and presented a session on the very topic noted above and it was very well-received. So much so, I wrote an article in a magazine for a sister organization on the same topic and it was published in the fall of 2020! You can find the article by clicking here (pages 16-20).
The other big announcement I have is that I’m doing my first virtual live show with my UK alter ego Fiona-Jane Weston on March 27th! During this transatlantic event, we will be talking about the suffrage movement from both the British and American perspectives, plus sharing some songs that highlight those women’s struggles. The event is on Eventbrite, and you can learn more and buy tickets by clicking here.
That’s all for now, but stay tuned to read the blog post I’ll be sharing for later this month. Happy reading, and I hope to see you at the event on the 27th!
